The situation in Budapest, Hungary, has reached a critical tipping point. National water authorities recently recorded the water level at a mere 23 centimetres (9 inches). To put this in perspective, the previous all-time low set in 2018 was 33 centimetres. With temperatures soaring above 38°C and no significant rainfall on the horizon, experts fear the river will ebb even further.
