Back-to-School Ready: Essential Immunization Event for Tift County Students
As the countdown to the 2026-2027 school year begins, ensuring your children’s health and compliance with state regulations is a top priority. To help families navigate these requirements, the Georgia Department of Public Health is taking proactive steps to ensure all students in Tift County are fully up to date with their necessary vaccinations.
Join the Tift County Immunization Event
To make the process as seamless as possible for parents and guardians, the Tift County Health Department (TCHD) is hosting a dedicated immunization event. This is a fantastic opportunity to get your children cleared for school without the stress of long waiting lists.
- Date: Tuesday, July 22
- Time: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Location: 305 E. 12th Street, Tifton
- Appointment: No appointment is needed—walk-ins are welcome!
Crucial Vaccine Requirements by Grade Level
Depending on the grade your child is entering, specific boosters and vaccines are required by law to maintain a safe learning environment for everyone. Pay close attention to these key milestones:
7th Grade Students
Students entering the 7th grade must provide proof of:
- One dose of the meningococcal vaccine (MCV4).
- One dose of an adolescent pertussis (whooping cough) booster.
11th Grade Students
Students entering the 11th grade require proof of a MCV4 vaccine. However, if the first dose was administered on or after their 16th birthday, additional verification may be needed.
Required Georgia School Documentation
Beyond the shots themselves, the state of Georgia requires specific paperwork for every student from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Ensure you have the following:
- Form 3231: The official Georgia Immunization Certificate, required by law for all K-12 students.
- Form 3300: Required specifically for first-time students in the Georgia school system, covering essential ear, eye, dental, and nutrition screenings.
For more detailed information on national vaccination schedules, you can visit the CDC Vaccine Schedules.
Insurance and Costs
The Tift County Health Department works with various providers to make healthcare accessible. Insurance may cover certain immunizations and services; however, please be aware that standard clinic fees will apply to any vaccines or forms not covered by your insurance provider.
Don’t wait until the last minute! Visit the TCHD event on July 22 and start the school year with peace of mind knowing your children are protected and compliant with all Georgia Department of Public Health guidelines.
