1st Over: Sri Lanka 5-0 (Nissanka 4, Mishara 0)
Overton starts with a full and wide delivery that Nissanka capitalizes on, smashing a drive through the covers for four. Overton tightens up for the rest of the over, but a leg-side wide adds to the total. Five off the first over.
2nd Over: Sri Lanka 7-0 (Nissanka 4, Mishara 1)
Sam Curran enters the attack. He begins with a wide and then is too straight, flicked off the hip by Mishara for a single.
3rd Over: Sri Lanka 7-0 (Nissanka 4, Mishara 1)
A decent maiden from Overton, who beats a driving Mishara with a late-swinging delivery. The Colombo sun is blazing, promising a hot contest.
4th Over: Sri Lanka 12-0 (Nissanka 8, Mishara 1)
Curran struggles with his line, conceding a couple of twos through the off-side to Nissanka and sending down a leg-side wide.
5th Over: Sri Lanka 17-1 (Nissanka 8, Mendis 1)
Kusal Mendis, the key man for Sri Lanka, arrives at the crease. He punches a single into the covers to get off the mark. Mishara was dismissed, plinking a catch to Duckett in the covers.
6th Over: Sri Lanka 18-1 (Nissanka 8, Mendis 2)
Curran delivers five consecutive dot balls to Mendis, who finally breaks the shackles with a single through midwicket.
England will need to take early wickets and keep the target manageable. The series is on the line for Harry Brook’s side. For more in-depth cricket coverage, check out ESPNcricinfo.
