We’re in the true final stretch of the 2025-26 QMJHL season. With just two games remaining for each team, the battle for playoff positioning is reaching fever pitch. Friday’s schedule is packed with action, featuring a full nine-game slate. Here’s a look at the matchups:
- Halifax at Newfoundland – 5:30 PM EDT
- Moncton at Charlottetown – 6:00 PM EDT
- Saint John at Cape Breton – 6:00 PM EDT
- Shawinigan at Victoriaville – 7:00 PM EDT
- Sherbrooke at Drummondville – 7:00 PM EDT
- Blainville-Boisbriand at Gatineau – 7:00 PM EDT
- Chicoutimi at Quebec – 7:00 PM EDT
- Rimouski at Baie-Comeau – 7:00 PM EDT
- Val-d’Or at Rouyn-Noranda – 7:00 PM EDT
But the games themselves are only part of the story. Let’s dive into the final power rankings and see how the regular season is shaping up.
Final QMJHL Power Rankings
- Moncton Wildcats (48-10-4) (Prev. 2)
- Chicoutimi Saguenéens (47-10-5) (Prev. 1)
These two teams have consistently been at the top of the league, and the race for the Eastern Conference’s top seed – and the coveted Jean-Rougeau Trophy – is still on. The Wildcats currently hold the edge, but a strong performance from Charlottetown in their upcoming games could shake things up.
- Blainville-Boisbriand Armada (38-18-6) (Prev. 3)
- Drummondville Voltigeurs (39-17-6) (Prev. 4)
- Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (38-17-7) (Prev. 5)
This tier represents teams still firmly in contention for a deep playoff run. The Armada, despite being the third seed, boast a roster brimming with talent, especially with the return of star defenseman Xavier Villeneuve. Their potential is undeniable.
- Newfoundland Regiment (36-22-4) (Prev. 6)
- Charlottetown Islanders (33-21-8) (Prev. 7)
- Shawinigan Cataractes (33-23-6) (Prev. 8)
- Sherbrooke Phoenix (33-24-5) (Prev. 11)
- Quebec Remparts (32-24-6) (Prev. 9)
This group is full of teams capable of making some noise in the playoffs, but each has a slight weakness preventing them from being considered true contenders. Whether it’s depth issues, inconsistency, or recent poor form, these teams will need to overcome challenges to advance.
- Cape Breton Eagles (27-22-13) (Prev. 10)
- Halifax Mooseheads (29-27-6) (Prev. 12)
- Val-d’Or Foreurs (26-29-7) (Prev. 13)
These teams find themselves in a unique position. While they’ve shown flashes of potential, they haven’t quite reached the level of the contenders. Cape Breton, in particular, is struggling heading into the post-season. Val-d’Or relies heavily on the exceptional play of Philippe Veilleux.
- Victoriaville Tigres (23-34-5) (Prev. 14)
- Saint John Sea Dogs (22-35-5) (Prev. 15)
- Gatineau Olympiques (20-37-5) (Prev. 16)
A playoff win would be a significant achievement for any of these teams. However, they’ll be relying on strong performances from their younger players, like Simon-Xavier Cyr and Maxim Dube (GAT), and Alexey Vlasov and Egor Shilov (VIC).
- Rimouski Océanic (18-43-1) (Prev. 17)
- Baie-Comeau Drakkar (14-42-6) (Prev. 18)
The Drakkar have struggled throughout the season, but the Océanic have been on a particularly rough stretch. Since trading goalie William Lacelle, they’ve won only one game in 26, currently enduring a 24-game losing streak. Their final two games against each other will determine who finishes in last place, a small consolation prize in an otherwise difficult season.
