Paul Pogba’s Return to Monaco: A Slow Burn Back to Form

Paul Pogba made his long-awaited return to Ligue 1 this Thursday evening, coming on as a substitute during Monaco’s 4-1 defeat against Paris FC. The French international entered the game in the 69th minute, replacing Kehrer, with his team already trailing 3-1. This appearance, though brief, was symbolic, given the midfielder’s challenging season.

Prior to this match, Pogba had only played 30 minutes in the league, spread across three consecutive games against Rennes, PSG, and Brest. His last appearance was on December 5th against Brest. Recurring issues with his thigh, ankle, and calf have significantly limited his playing time since joining Monaco.

Pogba Addresses His Fitness and Team Integration

Following the match, the 2018 World Cup winner spoke to the media, offering a candid assessment of his situation. “I feel really, really good. I was with the group, now I’m trying to gain some minutes and really get back into shape, that’s the most important thing. I think it will take time,” he stated.

Pogba also acknowledged the difficulty of reintegrating into a team that was performing well before his injury. “With the team we have, we were having a very good time. It’s difficult to come back and play immediately when the team is doing well. I’m here to help the team as much as possible until the end of the season.”

Looking Ahead

The midfielder was keen to reassure fans about his commitment. “I’m still here! We will still be together for a long time. I’m focusing only on the next matches, on getting in shape and helping the team.”
