Lamar Odom DUI Case: Not Guilty Plea Entered by Former NBA Star

Lamar Odom Pleads Not Guilty in Las Vegas DUI Case

LAS VEGAS – A not guilty plea was entered Tuesday morning on behalf of former NBA player Lamar Odom in his ongoing Driving Under the Influence (DUI) case. The plea was submitted by his legal counsel, setting the stage for further legal proceedings.

The Arrest Details

According to an arrest report, Odom was pulled over by Nevada State Police on Interstate 15 around 2:00 a.m. on January 17th. The incident unfolded as officers observed Odom allegedly speeding, initially clocked at 90 mph, and accelerating to 105 mph as police approached. This high-speed driving immediately drew the attention of law enforcement.

The report further details erratic driving behavior, including lane changes without signaling and inconsistent signaling without actually changing lanes. These actions contributed to the initial stop.

Evidence Presented by Police

Upon stopping the vehicle, officers reported observing both Odom and his passenger exhibiting bloodshot, watery eyes. A “significant odor of Marijuana” was also detected emanating from the car. Odom reportedly informed officers he was engaged in a phone call with his manager at the time of the stop.

Following the initial observations, Odom was subjected to a field sobriety test, which the report states he subsequently failed. This failure played a crucial role in the subsequent DUI charge.

Current Charges and Court Date

Currently, Lamar Odom is facing a DUI charge, along with two traffic violations. These include exceeding the speed limit by more than 41 miles per hour and an improper lane change. The case highlights the serious consequences of impaired driving and reckless behaviour.

The former NBA star is scheduled to reappear in court in July. The outcome of this case will determine the penalties Odom faces, potentially including fines, license suspension, and other legal ramifications.
