Kijhl Star Josh Gamble Heads to University of Michigan-Flint
Castlegar Rebels forward Josh Gamble, a dominant force in the Kijhl, has officially committed to play for the University of Michigan-Flint Wolverines in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division 1, starting next fall. This is a significant achievement for the Wilcox, Saskatchewan native and a testament to his dedication and skill.
A Kijhl Standout
Gamble led the Rebels in scoring with an impressive 34 points in 44 games, marking his third consecutive season as the team’s leading point scorer. His offensive prowess has been a cornerstone of the Rebels’ success, and his departure leaves a significant mark on the team.
“We really like his offensive ability and believe that he will immediately fill a hole that we were lacking last season with his offensive touch,” stated Wolverines head coach Nicholas Karstens. “He will be looked on right away to be an impact top-six forward and will help bolster our powerplay.”
Rebels Reflect on Gamble’s Impact
Rebels head coach and assistant general manager Alex Evin expressed pride in Gamble’s accomplishment. “We are proud of Josh as he continues on his athletic and academic journey. Gamble played over 140 games in a Rebels uniform and made a positive impact both on and off the ice.” His contributions extended beyond the scoreboard, making him a valued member of the Castlegar community.
Wolverines Look to Improve
The University of Michigan-Flint Wolverines finished last season with an 11-24-0 record, placing fifth in the seven-team Great Lakes Collegiate Hockey League. The addition of a skilled player like Gamble is expected to significantly boost their offensive capabilities and overall performance. You can find more information about the ACHA here.
