Isaac Trumble Reaches NCAA Wrestling National Finals

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The NC State Wolfpack wrestling team continues to make waves at the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships in Cleveland, Ohio. After a thrilling day two at Rocket Arena, two Pack wrestlers remain in contention for a national title. Leading the charge is sixth-year senior Isaac Trumble, who will compete in the national finals session, broadcast live on ESPN at 6:30 p.m.

Trumble’s Dominant Performance

This marks the third consecutive season that NC State wrestling has a representative in the national finals. Isaac Trumble (285 lbs) began his day with a decisive 4-0 victory over seventh-seed Konner Doucet of Oklahoma State in the quarterfinal round. He then showcased his resilience and skill, securing a crucial takedown in the final seconds of his semifinal match against No. 3 seed Taye Ghadiali of Michigan, winning with a score of 4-1.

Tomorrow evening, Trumble will face a formidable opponent in No. 1 seed Yonger Bastida of Iowa State for the national championship. This promises to be an epic showdown between two of the nation’s top heavyweight wrestlers.

Robinson’s All-American Run

Redshirt-sophomore Vincent Robinson (125 lbs) also had a remarkable day, battling his way through the consolation bracket to earn All-American status for the second year in a row. He achieved a significant milestone by defeating Virginia Tech’s No. 2 seed Eddie Ventresca in sudden victory – a first in his career. Robinson continued his momentum, taking down No. 6 seed Jore Volk of Minnesota, also in sudden victory.

Robinson now faces Troy Spratley of Oklahoma State. A win will propel him into the third/fourth place match, while a loss will place him in the fifth/sixth place match.

Close Calls and Future Prospects

Freshman Will Denny and redshirt-junior Matty Singleton narrowly missed out on podium finishes, falling in the “blood round” (round of 12) by decision. Denny lost a close match to five-time NCAA Qualifier Andrew Sparks of Minnesota, 8-7, while Singleton was defeated by Michigan’s Beau Mantanona, 11-8.

Ryan Jack concluded his six-season career with the Wolfpack, transitioning to a coaching role at the KD Training Center.
