Connor Ingram Leads Oilers to Victory Over Golden Knights
LAS VEGAS – Connor Ingram was the star of the show on Sunday, making 24 crucial saves to secure a 4-2 win for the Edmonton Oilers against the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena. The Oilers’ defense, coupled with Ingram’s solid goaltending, proved to be the difference in a hard-fought contest.
“We’ve been talking about packing it in in the D-zone and just playing good defense,” Ingram said. “We’re good enough that we’re going to get chances no matter what, so if we take care of the puck at that end, we’re going to be fine.”
Draisaitl Extends Hot Streak
Leon Draisaitl continued his impressive form, scoring his fifth goal in the last five games. Connor McDavid also contributed with two assists, showcasing the Oilers’ offensive firepower. Edmonton (31-25-8) has now won two of their last three games.
“There were a lot of things that I liked,” Edmonton coach Kris Knoblauch commented. “Mostly the defending, we did a pretty good job. There were times where we spent a little more time in our defensive zone, but we kept them to the outside and a lot of perimeter shots, so I liked that part of it.”
Game Recap
Trent Frederic opened the scoring for the Oilers in the second period, capitalizing on a chaotic play in front of the net. However, the Golden Knights quickly responded with a goal from Noah Hanifin, tying the game at 1-1.
Vasily Podkolzin regained the lead for Edmonton in the third period with a breakaway goal, demonstrating his speed and skill. Draisaitl then extended the Oilers’ advantage to 3-1 with a beautiful backhand goal. Jack Eichel managed to pull one back for Vegas with a short-handed goal, but Kasperi Kapanen sealed the victory with an empty-net goal, making the final score 4-2.
Golden Knights Struggle
The Vegas Golden Knights (29-21-14) have now lost five of their last six games. Adin Hill made 15 saves in the loss.
“We did control some play, we had pockets where we were really good when we played a certain way,” Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. “Then, some of the chances we started giving up, we’re trying to pass it around the outside. It’s not smart hockey for a veteran team.”
