With their quarterfinal clash against Germany looming, Team Canada’s women’s hockey team received a significant boost on Friday. Captain Marie-Philip Poulin returned to practice, sporting a regular jersey, after sustaining a lower-body injury during the team’s second tournament game against the Czech Republic.

Poulin’s Return: A Day-to-Day Evaluation

However, Poulin’s status remains under daily evaluation. The Canadian team’s medical staff will determine her ability to play in Saturday’s crucial game against Germany. “We’ll see,” Poulin stated when questioned about her availability.

Poulin has missed Canada’s last two games: a 5-0 defeat to the United States and a subsequent 5-0 victory over Finland. “I’m taking it day by day, happy to be where I am today,” Poulin shared. “I skated yesterday, I skated today, it’s obviously very special. I think it puts things in perspective, because when you come back on the ice with this team, it’s really special.”

Optimism Surrounds Poulin’s Recovery

Following the 5-0 win against Finland on Thursday, head coach Troy Ryan expressed optimism about Poulin’s potential return for the quarterfinals. “All I’ve heard is that she’s positive, she’s feeling good, and the doctors are happy,” Ryan said. “It’s a situation where coaches aren’t needed. It’s more of a medical decision, and she needs to get a feel for it.”
