Cincinnati vs. Kansas State: Bearcats Dominate Wildcats in Big 12 Showdown

Cincinnati Overpowers Kansas State in Decisive Victory

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) – The Cincinnati Bearcats delivered a stunning performance Wednesday night, rolling past the Kansas State Wildcats with a final score of 91-62. The victory marks Cincinnati’s first road win of the season, breaking a six-game losing streak in true road games.

Key Performances Lead Cincinnati to Victory

Jizzle James led the charge for the Bearcats, pouring in a game-high 24 points, fueled by an impressive 6-for-8 shooting from beyond the arc. Baba Miller showcased his all-around game with a dominant double-double, racking up 16 points and 12 rebounds, alongside 6 assists and 4 blocked shots. Miller’s consistent performance places him among the nation’s elite, being one of only three players averaging at least 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists per game.

Jalen Celestine added 18 points to the Bearcats’ offensive onslaught, connecting on 4 of 6 three-point attempts. Cincinnati’s sharpshooting was on full display, hitting an astounding 16 of 28 three-pointers throughout the game. Sencire Harris contributed 12 points, and Day Day Thomas chipped in with 10, rounding out a balanced scoring effort for Cincinnati (13-12, 5-7 Big 12).

Haggerty Nears Milestone, But Wildcats Fall Short

Despite the loss, Kansas State’s P.J. Haggerty had a strong showing, scoring 24 points. He is just seven points away from joining an exclusive club of active Division I players with 2,000 career points, alongside Gonzaga’s Graham Ike, Indiana’s Tucker DeVries, and Oklahoma’s Nijel Pack.

Bearcats’ Early Dominance Sets the Tone

Cincinnati came out firing on all cylinders, opening the game with a barrage of three-pointers. Celestine, Miller, and James each hit two early threes, quickly building a commanding 30-11 lead within the first eight minutes. The Bearcats maintained their momentum, leading 53-31 at halftime after shooting a remarkable 57% from the floor and converting 9 of 14 three-point attempts.

A 10-0 run early in the second half extended Cincinnati’s lead to 28 points, and the margin peaked at 32 when Jordi Rodriguez connected from beyond the arc with approximately three minutes remaining.

Looking Ahead

Kansas State (10-14, 1-10) will look to rebound as they hit the road to face No. 3 Houston on Saturday. Cincinnati returns home to host Utah on Sunday.
