Emma Chamberlain x West Elm: A Collection as Unique as She Is
It all started with a vanity. When West Elm approached Emma Chamberlain about a potential collaboration, the answer was a resounding yes. And she immediately knew where to begin: fulfilling a childhood dream. “I loved vanities when I was a kid and always wanted one,” Chamberlain recalls. “I felt it was my duty to make one.”
Today marks the launch of the 78-piece collection, a vibrant mix of furniture and decor. This marks Chamberlain’s first foray into interior design – though her fans will undoubtedly remember (and likely have saved) images of her beautifully curated Los Angeles home, designed with Proem Studios. Interestingly, her home served as the primary inspiration for this project. West Elm was a brand she initially discovered while furnishing her new space.
“I really used my house as inspiration,” Chamberlain explains. “Not everything is from the same decade or era—but it all works together.” Her vision beautifully blends mid-century modern aesthetics with a touch of futuristic flair. Each piece is subtly inspired by vintage finds in her own home, intentionally avoiding a rigid, single aesthetic. The result is a harmonious mishmash of warm woods, playful plaid upholstery, sleek chrome accents, and glossy lacquer finishes. A color palette of eggplant purple, sage green, mustard yellow, and icy blue creates a modern yet nostalgic feel, deeply rooted in the 1970s.
“I would say it’s eclectic, inviting, and lighthearted,” Chamberlain describes. “There’s a lot going on at once, which is very much my decor philosophy, and it doesn’t take itself too seriously.” The collection offers both foundational investment pieces – like a polished dining table and a classic, comfortable couch (inspired by the one Chamberlain uses for daily naps) – and whimsical touches, such as a pigeon-shaped pitcher and a charming bird-footed fruit bowl.
Chamberlain’s personal design approach mirrors her fashion sense: a slow, deliberate collection of pieces over time. “I do think I love one because I love the other,” she says. “I love both because they scratch the same itch in the brain.” She’s already incorporated several pieces into her own home, including a circular marble-top game table in her living room, a dresser filled with guest blankets, and a vibrant red coffee cart in her kitchen. And, of course, the vanity has found a permanent place in her bathroom, becoming a cherished part of her morning skincare routine.
“I sit there, take my time, and do my skincare. It’s such a wonderful part of my routine,” she shares.
The West Elm x Emma Chamberlain collection is available now, with prices starting at $20, both online and in stores. Its diverse range ensures there’s something for everyone, whether your style leans towards warm minimalism or funky eclecticism – perhaps a cheerful yellow striped cushion cover, or a striking tubular wall mirror. Chamberlain hopes the collection offers versatile pieces that aren’t limited to a single style.
“I’d like to believe that with a lot of these pieces, maybe even all of them, we found a balance so they’re not just one-trick ponies,” Chamberlain concludes. “I hope everyone loves this collection and finds themselves in it.”
