Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland: A Collector’s Haven Temporarily Closed

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland is renowned for its immersive storytelling and attention to detail. Black Spire Outpost isn’t just a themed land; it’s a fully realized world where every prop, conversation, and sign contributes to a captivating experience. At the heart of this immersive environment lies Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities, a shop that transcends the typical theme park merchandise location.

Dok-Ondar’s is a character space presided over by the ancient Ithorian collector himself, offering lightsabers, holocrons, and rare artifacts that feel genuinely sourced from across the galaxy. For fans planning a visit specifically to explore Dok-Ondar’s, or to acquire a unique lightsaber or artifact, recent news is crucial.

Unexpected Closure of Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities

Theme Park IQ reported on X (formerly Twitter) that Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities will be closed today and tomorrow, with a planned reopening on Wednesday. This closure is particularly noteworthy as it was announced abruptly, differing from Disney’s usual scheduled refurbishments.

The sudden nature of the closure suggests either an urgent maintenance issue or a quick operational decision. Disney has yet to release an official explanation. For guests visiting Disneyland today or tomorrow, Dok-Ondar’s will be inaccessible. However, the rest of Galaxy’s Edge, including Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, remains open.

A Land in Transition: The Timeline Shift

This closure arrives during a significant period of change for Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge. Disney has confirmed a timeline shift on April 29, 2026, moving the land’s setting from the sequel trilogy era to the original Star Wars trilogy. This exciting change will introduce iconic characters like Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa to Batuu for the first time.

Evidence of this transition is already visible. Oga’s Cantina recently underwent a refurbishment reflecting the new timeline, and DJ R-3X has had dialogue referencing the First Order and the Resistance removed. The cantina’s notice board now lists Imperial, Rebel, Republic, and Separatist factions. Even references to the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser have been removed.

Oga’s Cantina has also switched to a walk-up only system, eliminating advance reservations. Whether Dok-Ondar’s closure is directly related to these preparations remains unconfirmed, but the timing is certainly noteworthy.

What Does This Mean for Your Visit?

Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities is the primary source for finished lightsabers and artifacts, offering an alternative to the full custom-build experience at Savi’s Workshop. While Dok-Ondar’s is closed, Savi’s Workshop remains open for those seeking a custom lightsaber. Other retail locations in Disneyland may offer similar merchandise, but the unique character experience of Dok-Ondar’s is irreplaceable.

Guests visiting Galaxy’s Edge before April 29 will experience the land in its transitional state. The area around Oga’s Cantina already reflects the original trilogy era, while Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance remains set in the sequel era. This timeline shift is currently exclusive to Disneyland’s version of Galaxy’s Edge; Disney’s Hollywood Studios has not announced a similar change.
