Recently, comments from Heated Rivalry star Hudson Williams about Victoria, British Columbia, have ignited a conversation online. The Canadian actor offered a colourful description of the city during a recent appearance in Paris.

A Candid Take on the B.C. Capital

While attending a Balenciaga show, Williams jokingly discussed his filming schedule for the upcoming television series Yaga, which is being filmed near Victoria. He described the city as “30 minutes away from Vancouver, dead as f**k, old people.” These remarks quickly spread across social media, prompting a range of reactions – from agreement to staunch defence of the city, often playfully referred to as a haven for “the newlywed and nearly dead.”

Social Media Reacts

One user on Threads, abbykylemor, commented that Williams’ description resonated with their own experience: “Hudson saying Victoria is dead as f**k, old people, is so hilariously true as someone who has lived there and in Vancouver.”

However, not everyone agreed. juliesioux countered, “Victoria is a government/university city. It’s the capital of the province, expensive as f**k but absolutely gorgeous in terms of its natural environment. It isn’t a party town. It’s where you live if you love nature.”

Is it a Compliment?

Some fans suggested Williams’ comments were intended affectionately, pointing out that he has previously described Vancouver as “boring” despite enjoying the city. erin_k.low noted, “He also says Vancouver is boring, but he loves it there. I think this is Hudson’s version of a compliment.” Others embraced the stereotype, with one commenter stating, “Victoria IS dead as f**k. That’s why all of us in Vancouver with anxiety love vacationing there.”

Filming in the Region

Williams has been frequently spotted on Vancouver Island filming the eight-episode mystery thriller Yaga for Crave, alongside Noah Reid and Carrie-Ann Moss. Recently, a local fan encountered Williams at Victoria International Airport after his appearance on Saturday Night Live with Heated Rivalry co-star Connor Storrie.

Victoria artist Jen Emille shared her positive experience with the actor, describing him as “the sweetest” and “so down to earth.” Williams took the time to pose for photos and chat with Emille, who creates Heated Rivalry-themed beaded earrings.
