CBS Announces Fall 2026-2027 Schedule: ‘Matlock’ is Back!
While many season finales are still on the horizon, CBS has jumped the gun, becoming the first network to reveal its plans for the 2026-2027 television season. The announcement, made on April 15th, includes some significant shifts and, most excitingly for fans of classic television, the return of the iconic legal drama, Matlock.
Key Schedule Changes & Highlights
CBS is shaking things up with several key changes to its primetime lineup. Here’s a breakdown of what viewers can expect:
- Mondays: FBI and CIA will both move up an hour, offering viewers a full night of procedural drama.
- Tuesdays: The NCIS universe will see some shuffling. The new series NCIS: New York will take the 9 PM slot, bumping the prequel NCIS: Origins to 10 PM.
- Thursdays: New series Eternally Yours and Cupertino will join the Thursday lineup, adding fresh faces to the mix.
- Wednesdays & Fridays: Survivor remains a staple on Wednesdays (with an extended 90-minute block), while Fridays will continue to feature Sheriff Country, Fire Country, and Boston Blue.
- Sundays: Marshals, previously a midseason show, will now be a part of the fall lineup alongside Tracker. (CBS typically doesn’t air new episodes at 10 PM on Sundays due to potential sports overruns).
Midseason Premieres & Returning Favorites
While many shows are slated for a fall debut, some fan favorites will be held for midseason. This includes the highly anticipated new series Einstein, as well as the returns of Ghosts, Matlock, and NCIS: Sydney. Don’t worry, Ghosts fans – the show will still deliver one-hour Halloween and Ghostmas special episodes this fall!
