Another major celebrity has been spotted enjoying the vibrant culinary scene of Vancouver’s Commercial Drive, and this time it’s none other than Jackson Wang, the internationally renowned Hong Kong-born rapper, singer, and member of the K-Pop group GOT7. During his recent stop in Vancouver for the Magic Man 2 World Tour, Wang made sure to experience some of the city’s most beloved eateries.
Nomo Nomo: A Magical Moment
The intimate Japanese snack bar and cocktail lounge, Nomo Nomo, shared a photo on Instagram featuring Wang posing with their team. The caption, “The MAGIC MAN himself at Nomo Nomo!” perfectly captured the excitement of the encounter. Nomo Nomo, which opened in September 2023, offers a unique dining experience with its yoshoku – Western-influenced Japanese comfort food – alongside creative cocktails and sake. It’s quickly becoming a hotspot for both locals and visiting stars.
But Nomo Nomo wasn’t Wang’s only Vancouver culinary adventure. In an Instagram post thanking Vancouver for its warm welcome, Wang gave a shoutout to another local favourite: The Lunch Lady. “I got a little of the lunch lady food as well,” he wrote. “I was speechless.” This Vietnamese restaurant, located at 1046 Commercial Drive, has quietly become a celebrity magnet, earning a Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition.

The Lunch Lady has already hosted a string of high-profile guests, including comedians Hasan Minhaj and Ronny Chieng in December 2023, and Zach Galifianakis, Jason Mantzoukas, and John Mulaney in September 2023. It’s quickly becoming the unofficial green room for touring entertainers passing through Vancouver.
Jackson Wang’s Return to Vancouver
Wang also hinted at a future return to Vancouver, writing, “I will be seeing you all very soon. I will be back with a new show.” With a growing list of celebrity endorsements, Commercial Drive is solidifying its reputation as a culinary destination for stars.
