Goo Goo Dolls Concert Cancellations: A Week of Setbacks
Fans of the Goo Goo Dolls are facing disappointment as the band has been forced to cancel several concerts on their Canadian tour. A wave of illness, culminating in a pneumonia diagnosis for frontman John Rzeznik, has led to the postponements.
Recent Cancellations
The trouble began earlier this week with the cancellation of a Monday show at GFL Memorial Gardens Arena in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The band initially cited illness as the reason. Unfortunately, the situation worsened, leading to the cancellation of a Wednesday performance at Tribute Communities Centre in Oshawa, Ontario, again due to illness. A third cancellation followed on Thursday, impacting the scheduled concert at TD Coliseum in Hamilton.
Pneumonia Diagnosis and Hope for Recovery
The cancellation in Hamilton came with a more specific diagnosis. The Goo Goo Dolls announced via social media: “With sorrow and gratitude, we must cancel tonight’s show at TD Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario, as John (Rzeznik) has been diagnosed with pneumonia.”
Despite the setback, the band expressed optimism about resuming the tour. They stated their intention to return to the stage this Saturday in London, Ontario, and assured ticket holders that refunds for the cancelled Hamilton show would be processed at the point of purchase.
Remaining Tour Dates and Future Plans
The Canadian leg of the tour is scheduled to conclude on April 11th in Moncton, New Brunswick. Following the Canadian dates, the Goo Goo Dolls have performances lined up at festivals in Texas and a show in Mexico. A full summer tour across the United States is also planned.
Fans are encouraged to stay updated on the band’s official website and social media channels for the latest information regarding tour dates and any potential changes.
