Scrubs Cast Season 2: Who is Returning to Sacred Heart?

The Gang’s All Here (Mostly!): Everything You Need to Know About the Scrubs Cast for Season 2

Get your scrubs ready! ABC has officially locked in the Scrubs cast for the second season of its highly anticipated revival. As the halls of Sacred Heart prepare for a new wave of chaos, the upcoming season promises a blend of nostalgic returns and fresh dynamics that will keep fans on the edge of their seats.

The Core Trio: The Icons Return

At the heart of the revival remains the legendary trio that defined a generation of medical comedies. Zach Braff (J.D.), Donald Faison (Turk), and Sarah Chalke (Elliot) are all returning as series regulars. Their chemistry remains the driving force of the show as they transition from wide-eyed interns to seasoned icons within the hospital.

Fresh Faces and Big Promotions

Season 2 is bringing some exciting changes to the hierarchy. One of the standout interns from the first revival season, Ava Bunn (played by Sam Tosh), has been promoted to a series regular. Tosh has already been praised for capturing that classic “J.D.-esque” energy, making her a perfect fit for the main cast.

While other interns like Jacob Dudman, David Gridley, Layla Mohammadi, and Amanda Morrow will continue in recurring roles, the focus will shift toward how these new doctors balance their professional growth with their complicated personal lives.

The Return of Fan-Favorites

No trip to Sacred Heart is complete without the people who make it challenging. Here is the breakdown of the recurring OG cast:

n
• Neil Flynn (The Janitor): After a brief appearance in the Season 1 finale, Flynn is set for significantly more screen time in Season 2, bringing back the conflict and mystery fans love.
• John C. McGinley (Dr. Cox) & Judy Reyes (Carla): Both are returning in recurring capacities. Due to their commitments to other high-profile series like HBO’s latest hits, the production is working closely to ensure they appear as often as possible.
• Robert Maschio (The Todd), Vanessa Bayer (Sibby), and Michael James Scott (Dubois): These characters are all confirmed to return, ensuring the hospital remains as eccentric as ever.

New Romances and Unexpected Departures

The romantic tension is heating up! Rachel Bilson, who guest-starred in the Season 1 finale as Charlie, is returning for a multi-episode arc. Her presence is expected to shake up the relationship between J.D. and Elliot, potentially rekindling their old flame—especially since some other romantic interests may be exiting the picture.

However, not everyone is making the cut. In a surprising move, Dr. Kevin Park (Joel Kim Booster) and Charge Nurse Raymond (X Mayo) will not be returning for Season 2, leaving a void in the hospital’s power struggles.

What to Expect from Season 2?

According to showrunner Aseem Batra and creator Bill Lawrence, the upcoming 10-episode season will focus on the evolution of J.D., Turk, and Elliot as they inspire the next generation. The series will continue to blend laughter with the heartfelt reality of medical life.

The revival is produced by 20th Television and will air on ABC on Wednesdays this fall, with episodes streaming the next day on Hulu.
