Perez Hilton Hospitalization: A Detailed Account of His Health Scare in Las Vegas

Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., recently shared a deeply personal experience with his followers: a three-week hospitalization in Las Vegas. Hilton detailed his ordeal through a series of social media posts, offering a candid look at his battle with a serious health condition.

From Flu to Sepsis: The Unfolding of a Medical Emergency

Hilton explained that his health crisis began with what he initially believed was a common case of the flu. He took medication, but unfortunately, neglected to take it with food. This seemingly small oversight led to the development of a stomach ulcer, which ultimately perforated and resulted in sepsis – a life-threatening complication.

“I had the flu for about a week and took my medication, but neglected to take it with food,” Hilton shared in a video posted on Monday. “This led to me developing an ulcer, which caused a perforation and sepsis.”

The day before being admitted to the hospital, Hilton experienced excruciating stomach pain. His condition rapidly deteriorated, and he found himself unable to walk, requiring an ambulance to transport him to Southern Hills Hospital.

Surgery, Infections, and a Long Road to Recovery

After five days in the hospital, Hilton underwent laparoscopic surgery to address the perforation. However, his challenges didn’t end there. Doctors also had to drain fluid from his lungs and treat another infection he contracted during his hospital stay.

“It was just such a slow process,” Hilton recounted. “Two weeks of just sickness and then another week of getting better before I was released. And that last week was hell.”

Even after being discharged, Hilton continued to receive treatment with antibacterial and antifungal medications, administered through an IV. He described his recovery as a gradual process, focusing on regaining his strength and health.

A Renewed Perspective on Life and Family

This health scare has prompted Hilton to re-evaluate his priorities. He expressed a commitment to prioritizing sleep and spending more quality time with his family.

“Even making this video has taken a toll out of me, but I’m excited to get back to it,” he said. “Every day, I’ll get stronger. Every day, I’ll breathe better. Every day, the swelling will go down. Every day, my tummy will go down. It’s kind of huge right now still.”

Hilton concluded with a message of gratitude, thanking God, his family, and his loyal followers for their unwavering support over the past 22 years. He is now focused on a full recovery and returning to his usual activities.
