NCIS: What Fans Can Expect in Season 23 and Beyond
For devoted fans of NCIS, there’s a wealth of exciting content on the horizon – and it extends far beyond the upcoming milestone 500th episode (airing March 24th). This episode promises to be a truly unforgettable experience. Brian Dietzen, speaking with TV Insider, reveals, “People are going to absolutely lose their minds.” He adds that network insiders have described it as one of the most emotionally resonant episodes in the show’s history.
Focus on Palmer and Hines in Upcoming Episodes
The latter half of Season 23 will feature two particularly compelling episodes (17 and 18) that will deeply explore the personal lives of Dr. Jimmy Palmer (Dietzen) and Kasie Hines (Reasonover). Dietzen shares, “They’re pretty special. One of the episodes does focus a lot on where Jimmy’s at in his personal life and where he’s giving himself new challenges. And then the next episode focuses quite a bit on Diona, Kasie’s character. But some really wonderful things.”
A ‘Banger After Another’ and Season 24 Renewal
Dietzen has already previewed the script for the penultimate episode of Season 23, describing it as “incredible.” Overall, the second half of the season is shaping up to be a string of exceptional episodes. The good news doesn’t stop there – NCIS has been officially renewed for Season 24, announced in January!
The Importance of Maintaining Quality
Despite the show’s continued success, Dietzen remains grounded, acknowledging the fragility of long-running television series. He recalls a cautionary tale from David McCallum: “An entire hit television show can be taken down by four bad episodes.” McCallum, reflecting on his experience with The Man from U.N.C.L.E., explained that a series of poorly received episodes can quickly lead to cancellation.
Dietzen applies this lesson to NCIS, emphasizing the need for consistent quality and dedication. “I kind of feel that way about our show. And I’m like, ‘OK, it’s our job to keep that bar up there and really never take anything for granted, never take tomorrow for granted.’ So we just got to keep working hard. And I think we’ve got a great group of people to do it.”
