Luke Grimes: Trading Hollywood for Montana’s Big Sky
In recent years, a growing number of celebrities have sought refuge from the Hollywood spotlight, opting for quieter, more private lives. Among them is ‘Yellowstone’ star Luke Grimes, who, much like his character Kayce Dutton, has embraced ranch life in Montana with his wife, Bianca Rodrigues Grimes, and their son. Let’s delve into Grimes’ Montana home and the Taylor Sheridan influence that sparked this life-changing move.
Falling for the Treasure State
Grimes first settled in the Bitterroot Valley of Montana in 2020, captivated by the area during filming for ‘Yellowstone’. The allure proved irresistible. “I was going up there three or four months out of the year, and then anytime we’d get done filming, and I’d come back here, it sort of felt like I was leaving home rather than going back home,” Grimes shared with Fox News Digital. “It was just a gear change that slowly happened over a course of a few years and then, yeah, my wife and I just fell in love with it and decided to live there.”
Not Always a Warm Welcome
However, the transition to small-town life hasn’t been without its challenges. Grimes has encountered resistance from some Montana locals. He recounted a frustrating experience on The Joe Rogan Experience, explaining, “I can’t go to bars there anymore ‘cause whatever that one idiot is, is at the bar, and he can’t wait to start a fight with me. Just like can’t wait to do it because it’s like a win-win for him, you know? He gets to sue me or something.”
The animosity extends beyond bars. Grimes shared a story of friends visiting from California having their car vandalized with the message “go back” written in the dust. This has led him to keep his location private, fearing further backlash. “People are super weird about it. So I don’t tell anyone exactly where I’m at because they would get really mad at me.”
A Growing Family, A Fuller Life
In October 2024, Luke and Bianca welcomed their son into the world. Grimes has openly expressed the profound joy of fatherhood. “It’s such a wild thing to try to explain—your world gets a lot more focused; a lot of the things that seemed like a big deal before have really kind of fallen into the background, and your reason why becomes a lot bigger, if that makes any sense,” he told Country Living. “Any decision I make now is based around how that’s going to affect him, and it’s kind of nice; sort of simplifies your decision-making process because you have a real top priority now.”
Cowboy Hats and Little Ones
Even with a Western lifestyle, adjusting to a cowboy hat takes time. “My son thinks my cowboy hat is really funny,” Grimes revealed to People magazine. “He doesn’t understand why I have that big thing on my head, but he loves it.”
Luke Grimes’ story is a testament to the allure of a simpler life, the challenges of integrating into a tight-knit community, and the overwhelming joy of family. His journey from ‘Yellowstone’ star to Montana rancher continues to captivate fans.
