LOL: Qui rira le dernier? Season 4: First Impressions are Hilarious!
The fourth season of LOL: Qui rira le dernier? promises to be a standout edition, featuring seasoned comedians Guy Jodoin and Patrice L’Écuyer relentlessly trying to crack each other up. Here’s a look at what we thought of the first two episodes, now available on Prime Video. Following the victories of Laurent Paquin and Richardson Zéphir (Season 1), Rosalie Vaillancourt (Season 2), and Réal Béland (Season 3), who will take home the trophy this season?
A Familiar Format, A Fresh Lineup
Hosted once again by the ever-engaging Patrick Huard, this internationally popular concept needs no introduction. Contestants are locked in a “manor” for six hours, tasked with making their opponents break character and laugh. Each participant receives one yellow card before being eliminated on their second offense. The lineup for this new season immediately impresses with its strength. Alongside some rising stars (Mégan Brouillard, Eve Côté, Liliane Blanco-Binette, Phil Roy, Mehdi Bousaidan), it’s the veteran performers who truly stand out: Claude Legault, Guylaine Tremblay, Patrice L’Écuyer, Guy Jodoin, and Anthony Kavanagh.
Improv Legends and Early Strategies
With Legault and L’Écuyer, two legendary improvisers, in the mix, anticipation is high for a truly chaotic and hilarious competition. In the first hour, Patrice L’Écuyer immediately adopts an aggressive strategy, fearlessly diving into the personal space and comedic bubbles of his fellow contestants – a tactic rarely seen in previous seasons.
A New Twist: Huard’s Control
A new element this year is Patrick Huard’s control over when contestants must take the stage for their solo performances. He quickly sends Eve Côté (hosting a fake quiz) and Claude Legault (presenting a hilariously biased fishing show, “100% Truite”) into the spotlight. It’s immediately apparent that Liliane Blanco-Binette is struggling to contain her laughter, her face contorting with the effort!
Jodoin’s Iconic Performance
However, it’s Guy Jodoin’s solo performance in the first episode that steals the show. Impersonating a swimmer, Jodoin arrives on stage in nothing but a speedo, swim cap, and goggles. Watching him perform incredibly physical and noisy “swimming” routines is pure torture for the other participants – a truly unforgettable moment.
Episode Two: More Laughs and Close Calls
The fast-paced humor continues into the second episode, featuring an awkwardly charming interview between Raymond Beaudoin (played by Pierre Brassard) and Mégan Brouillard. Liliane Blanco-Binette continues to battle her laughter during a Petoman-inspired routine. Mehdi Bousaidan, meanwhile, reveals a previously unseen absurd side with a performance involving…butter. The episode culminates with Patrice L’Écuyer’s mime act. We’re already eagerly awaiting the remaining four episodes!
Stay tuned for more updates and analysis as the season unfolds!
