Lindsey Buckingham, the acclaimed guitarist and vocalist formerly of Fleetwood Mac, was the victim of an attack by a woman in Santa Monica, California, according to multiple law enforcement sources reporting to NBC4 Investigates. The incident has sent ripples through the music world, raising concerns for the safety of the two-time Grammy winner.
Details of the Incident
Upon arriving for an appointment, Buckingham, 76, was reportedly ambushed by a woman identified by authorities as a known stalking suspect. The suspect allegedly threw an unidentified substance at the musician before fleeing the scene. Thankfully, Buckingham sustained no injuries in the attack.
Law enforcement officials have identified the suspect, who is known to Buckingham from previous incidents. While no arrests have been made as of Wednesday morning, authorities anticipate an arrest will be made shortly. It is believed the suspect intentionally discovered the location and timing of Buckingham’s appointment.

Lindsey Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac in 1975, quickly becoming an integral part of the band’s iconic sound. Beyond his work with Fleetwood Mac, Buckingham has enjoyed a successful solo career, releasing his self-titled debut album in 1981. He also collaborated with Fleetwood Mac bandmate Christine McVie on a duet album in 2017, showcasing their enduring musical connection.
