Last Golden Tickets! Washington High School’s “Willy Wonka” Finale

Step into a world of pure imagination! The dazzling production of “Willy Wonka” by the Washington High School drama department is nearing its grand finale. Audiences still have two magical chances to witness the enchanting tale unfold, promising an unforgettable journey into the whimsical chocolate factory.

A Vision of Pure Imagination on Stage

Director Don Hughes shares his infectious enthusiasm for bringing the beloved “Willy Wonka” story to life. “It just kind of struck me,” Hughes recounts on choosing this year’s fall production. “I think we’ve got the right kids for the right roles. The cast is super cool, they’re going to be good.” The idea gained significant traction last year when students expressed keen interest in the show, making it a natural choice.

“It sounded fun to do, and actually, we had a joke last year when we did Little Women, where the choir director put up all of these shows and narrowed it down. One of them was Willy Wonka and that actually got a lot of traction from the kids,” Hughes explains. “Like, ‘Oh, we can do this, let’s do this, let’s do this.’ So I did that. I think this is going to be a great show to see, and a great cast to watch. I think it’s going to be a pretty darn fun show.” His confidence in the ensemble’s talent and the sheer joy of the production promises a truly special theater experience.
