Hilary Duff’s ‘Luck… or Something’: A Comeback 11 Years in the Making
After a significant hiatus, Hilary Duff has finally released her sixth studio album, Luck… or Something, marking her first musical offering since Breathe In. Breathe Out in June 2015 – a wait of over eleven years for devoted fans.
A New Chapter with Atlantic Records
This new recording represents Duff’s debut with Atlantic Records, featuring 11 tracks including previously released singles “Mature” and “Roommates.” The album delves into the complexities of motherhood, marriage, and navigating life in her thirties, offering a deeply personal and relatable experience.
Finding Balance and Self-Discovery
Duff reflects on the challenges of balancing multiple roles, stating, “here’s that question of whether women can have it all, and through this process I learned I had to sacrifice some things in order to put the record first.” She emphasizes the importance of self-prioritization, adding, “carving out the time to make an album after all these years was incredibly powerful for me, and now I can’t wait to share it with the world.”
Collaborative Effort and Artistic Vision
The album is a collaborative effort, co-written by Duff and produced by her husband, Matthew Koma (known for his work with Britney Spears and P!nk), alongside Brian Phillips (Alec Benjamin, blink-182). It’s a testament to Duff’s journey and resilience within the entertainment industry.
“I constantly get asked how I still have my head on straight after growing up in this industry,” Duff explains. “The album title is my way of answering that question, which felt right for a record that’s about where I’ve landed and all the things I’ve been through along the way.”
Global Tour on the Horizon
To support the release of Luck… or Something, Duff is embarking on her first full-scale global headline tour in nearly two decades. The tour kicks off with shows in West Palm Beach, FL on June 21st and 22nd, and will extend across the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, continuing into February 2027.
