Ryan Gosling’s Hilarious SNL Promo: A ‘Five-Timers Club’ Mix-Up

Ryan Gosling’s Hilarious SNL Promo: A ‘Five-Timers Club’ Mix-Up

Ryan Gosling is gearing up for his fifth appearance on Saturday Night Live, or so he thinks! The Project Hail Mary star’s latest promo for the show is a comedic goldmine, built around his enthusiastic (and slightly inaccurate) belief that he’s about to join the prestigious “Five-Timers Club.”

The promo, aptly titled “Ryan Gosling Thinks He’s Joining SNL’s Five-Timers Club,” features Gosling sporting a luxurious robe embroidered with the number five. He confidently strides around Rockefeller Plaza, acting as if he owns the place, fully embracing the imagined status.

A Comedic Confrontation

The hilarity unfolds as Gosling engages in a series of over-the-top antics – lighting up a photo of Mikey Day, smoking indoors, and even popping champagne while atop a fake horse. Day, however, quickly attempts to ground Gosling in reality.

“Dude, what the hell are you doing?” Day asks, to which Gosling proudly replies, “Five-timers club, Michael.” Day swiftly corrects him, “This is your fourth time hosting,” leading to a classic spit-take moment from Gosling. The two then playfully review his previous SNL appearances.

“It’s just four,” Gosling concedes, adding with a touch of disbelief, “I’m sure someone’s made this mistake before.” Day quips back, “Never once!” You can watch the full, laugh-inducing promo here.

Gosling’s SNL History

While Gosling’s enthusiasm is endearing, the facts remain: this will be his fourth time hosting Saturday Night Live. He first graced the stage on December 5, 2015, followed by appearances on September 30, 2017, and most recently on April 13, 2024. He also made a cameo appearance on April 6, 2024.

‘Project Hail Mary’ Press Tour

Gosling is currently promoting Project Hail Mary, a highly anticipated sci-fi adaptation of Andy Weir’s bestselling novel, directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The film is set to release on March 20th. Early reactions from press screenings have been overwhelmingly positive, building excitement for the movie. You can learn more about the film here.
