Cineplex $5 Weekend: Your Guide to Cheap Movie Tickets and Popcorn in Canada
Who doesn’t love the magic of the big screen, especially when it doesn’t break the bank? If you are a movie lover in Canada, mark your calendars! Cineplex is bringing back one of its most anticipated promotions: the $5 Weekend.
Whether you’re planning a romantic date, a family outing, or a solo cinematic escape, this event is the perfect excuse to catch the latest blockbusters without worrying about the cost. Here is everything you need to know to make the most of this offer.
The Deal: Movie Magic for Just $5
On September 5 and 6, Cineplex is offering a double win for moviegoers across the country. For a limited time, you can enjoy:
- n
- General Admission Movie Tickets: Only $5 each.
- Small Bags of Popcorn: Only $5 each.
This promotion is available at all Cineplex theatre locations across Canada, making it an accessible way to discover new films or revisit a favourite on the giant screen.
How to Score Your $5 Tickets
To ensure you don’t miss out, you need to know exactly when and how to purchase your tickets. Sales begin on Wednesday, September 2, both online and in person.
Depending on how you buy, the price may vary slightly due to booking fees:
- n
- In-Person: Purchase your ticket at the local theatre box office to get the flat $5 rate.
- Online: Tickets are priced up to $6.50 each (plus tax) due to the standard online booking fee.
- Scene+ Members: Members can enjoy a streamlined price of $6 all-in.
Want a Premium Experience?
While the $5 deal applies to general admission, you can still upgrade your movie night! If you prefer a more luxurious experience, you can pay an additional fee to upgrade your ticket to:
- n
- VIP
- UltraAVX
- IMAX
- D-BOX, 4DX, ScreenX, or Real 3D
Even with the upgrade fee, the total cost remains significantly lower than standard pricing on a regular day. Note: This offer is not valid for 70mm performances (including IMAX 70MM), non-feature films, or special Cineplex Events.
Movies with a Mission
What makes this event even better is that it supports a fantastic cause. A portion of the proceeds from the $5 Weekend will be donated to the Cineplex partner, the Canadian Picture Pioneers (CPP). Since 1940, this charitable organization has provided essential financial assistance and educational programs to members of Canada’s motion picture industry.
