Cillian Murphy Sets the Record Straight on Future Projects
Cillian Murphy is addressing speculation surrounding two highly anticipated franchises: ’28 Years Later’ and ‘Harry Potter’. The acclaimed actor, known for his captivating performance in ‘Peaky Blinders’, is clarifying his involvement – or lack thereof – in both projects.
’28 Years Later’ Sequel on the Horizon?
Murphy recently reprised his role as Jim in ’28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’, and fans are eager to know if another installment is in the works. When asked about a potential sequel by The Times, Murphy responded with optimistic enthusiasm: “Hope so!” He added, “I’m ready anyway.” This suggests a willingness to return, leaving the door open for further adventures in the post-apocalyptic world.
Debunking the Voldemort Rumours
Rumours have been circulating that Murphy was being considered to play Lord Voldemort in the upcoming HBO television adaptation of the ‘Harry Potter’ series. However, the actor was unequivocal in his denial. “I’m categorically not,” he stated, putting an end to the speculation.
Murphy also expressed his discomfort with the attention and speculation surrounding his public persona. “Being a personality is not what I am good at,” he explained. “But then existing in this world? Talking about yourself, going on f***ing red carpets? It’s not healthy if you start to believe this shit, and I’m really bad at it too. I’m an incredibly average person, really.”
The New ‘Harry Potter’ Cast
The HBO ‘Harry Potter’ series has already announced its core cast, including Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stour as Ron Weasley. Other notable additions include Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. You can find more details about the casting choices here.
The series is being spearheaded by ‘Succession’ duo Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod, with Gardiner serving as showrunner and executive producer, and Mylod directing multiple episodes.
It’s clear that Cillian Murphy remains focused on projects that resonate with him, and while he won’t be wielding a wand in the ‘Harry Potter’ universe, fans can look forward to potentially seeing him back in action in the ’28 Years Later’ franchise.
