Cheryl Ladd and ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Cast Celebrate 50th Anniversary
“Good morning, Angels.” For a generation, those words signaled adventure, glamour, and a groundbreaking shift in television. Recently, Cheryl Ladd, Kate Jackson, and Jaclyn Smith, the iconic stars of “Charlie’s Angels,” reunited for a momentous occasion: the 50th anniversary celebration of the show at PaleyFest 2026.
The reunion brought together the beloved trio, offering fans a rare glimpse into the memories and impact of a series that captivated audiences from 1976 to 1981 on ABC. Just before the event, Cheryl Ladd expressed her feelings, stating, “This is a little overwhelming. I know there’s a huge group of people who’ve loved ‘Charlie’s Angels’ and that’s gonna feel very good.”.
A Look Back at the Original Angels
The series initially starred Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith, and the late Farrah Fawcett as Sabrina Duncan, Kelly Garrett, and Jill Munroe, respectively. These three talented private investigators worked for a mysterious boss known only as Charlie, tackling cases with intelligence, courage, and undeniable style. Cheryl Ladd joined the cast in the beginning of the show’s second season, portraying Jill’s sister, Kris Munroe, adding a fresh dynamic to the team.
PaleyFest 2026: A Candid Conversation
The PaleyFest audience was treated to an intimate and candid conversation with Jackson, Ladd, and Smith, expertly moderated by George Pennacchio of On The Red Carpet. The discussion delved into the show’s history, the actresses’ experiences, and the lasting legacy of “Charlie’s Angels”.
A particularly amusing moment occurred when Pennacchio inquired about a long-standing rumor. “Is it true that in the early days of the show, Farrah’s hair was called the fourth Angel?” he asked. Smith playfully responded, “It should have been if it wasn’t because it had a life of its own!”
Breaking Barriers and Inspiring Generations
“Charlie’s Angels” was truly groundbreaking. At a time when action series were predominantly male-led, the show presented a powerful image of women taking charge and solving crimes. Kate Jackson eloquently reflected on this impact, stating, “You could sit back, put your feet up and forget your troubles for an hour. And at the same time, you could learn without knowing you were learning that women could do anything. Anything a man could do a woman could do and at a time, in the early and mid to late ’70s in Hollywood when you’re trying to break the glass ceiling, having three women star in a top network television show was really quite an accomplishment.”.
The show’s success paved the way for more female representation in action and adventure genres, inspiring countless women to pursue their dreams without limitations. The influence of Cheryl Ladd and her co-stars continues to resonate today.
