Sara Eisen Sparks Debate on ‘The View’ with Bold Market Takes
The third guest host filling in for Alyssa Farah Griffin’s maternity leave made a splash on Thursday’s (February 26) episode of The View. CNBC’s Sara Eisen, a prominent financial news anchor, joined the panel and immediately engaged in a lively discussion, showcasing her expertise and willingness to challenge conventional wisdom.
A Warm Welcome and a Different Perspective
Moderator Whoopi Goldberg welcomed Eisen, who expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity. “I have to say, I’m very grateful to be here,” Eisen stated. “This is very different for me. I cover business news, the markets. I also am very appreciative of being at a table of women because I have three boys at home, and a husband… so this is a nice change of pace.”
Market Sentiment and Presidential Influence
The conversation quickly turned to the economy, with Goldberg inquiring about the market’s reaction to presidential policies. Eisen confidently asserted, “The market likes who’s president. There’s a lot of upbeat sentiment from companies and from investors about policies that are helpful for growth.”
This sparked a debate with Sunny Hostin, who questioned the benefits of tariffs. Eisen acknowledged that tariffs aren’t typically conducive to growth but argued they hadn’t caused the widespread economic devastation predicted. “Everyone thought it would be massive inflation and the market would fall apart, the economy would fall apart. It hasn’t,” she explained.
The Wealth Gap and Investment Access
Hostin then highlighted the disparity in economic impact, stating, “If you’re wealthy, it’s great. If you’re middle class or under the middle class, it’s not good at all.” Eisen responded by suggesting increased participation in the stock market. Hostin countered, pointing out the financial limitations faced by minimum wage earners, stating, “If you get paid minimum wage, you don’t have exposure to stocks.”
Goldberg intervened, apologizing to Eisen for the intense questioning, while Hostin acknowledged the rapid-fire exchange. Undeterred, Eisen enthusiastically replied, “Keep it coming!”
