UPDATE 5:50 P.M. 2/10 SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – A tragic shooting in the Amberlee neighborhood of Sarasota, Florida, has left multiple people dead, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to a call at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10th, to the 4800 block of Fallcrest Circle, near the intersection of McIntosh and Proctor roads.
Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered multiple victims, all of whom were pronounced dead at the scene. A weapon was recovered from the residence. Authorities have stated that this appears to be an isolated incident, posing no immediate threat to the public.
Schools Briefly on Lockdown
As a precautionary measure, several schools in the vicinity were placed on lockdown following the shooting. Sarasota Middle School initiated a perimeter security alert, which was later lifted. Suncoast Technical College and Suncoast Polytechnical High School briefly secured their perimeters before resuming normal operations. Wilkinson Elementary School, Ashton Elementary School, and Sarasota Middle School also implemented hold status before receiving the all-clear. Officials confirmed that no students or staff were at risk during the lockdown procedures.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has established a media staging area at Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church. A significant law enforcement presence remains in the area, with deputies checking the identification of residents entering the gated Amberlee community to control access to the crime scene.
One resident shared their shock, stating, “A little in shock…Happening right here in my neighborhood. And Amberly is a safe, a safe community. I mean, it’s gated. And just people dying is, it’s horrible.”

UPDATE 2:54 P.M. 2/10 SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – The Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call at 12:24 p.m. and arrived on scene at 12:29 p.m. No survivors were found. The scene showed no signs of forced entry. Investigators are currently interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage, including doorbell camera recordings.
The home had been the subject of two previous police calls, but officials stated these did not indicate suspicious activity. The identities of the victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Multiple units are involved in the investigation, including Crime Scene, Forensics, Victim Advocates, Criminal Investigations, Unmanned Aircraft Systems, and the Patrol Bureau.
Traffic delays were reported on Proctor Road eastbound, with a right lane blocked near McIntosh Road.
