The story follows Mark (Neill), a spy who returns home to West Berlin only to find his wife, Anna (Adjani), exhibiting increasingly erratic and disturbing behavior, and demanding a divorce. Adjani’s performance earned her the Best Actress award at the 1981 Cannes Film Festival, cementing the film’s place in cinematic history.
