Charli XCX’s ‘The Moment’ Takes the Box Office by Storm
A24’s The Moment with Charli XCX has delivered a remarkable limited opening, grossing nearly $428,000 on just four screens – a per-theater average exceeding $107,000. This achievement marks the third-biggest limited debut post-COVID, trailing only Marty Supreme and Asteroid City. It also places the film among A24’s top three limited releases ever, alongside the Timothée Chalamet-led hit and Uncut Gems (2019).
The directorial debut of Aidan Zamiri, co-written with Charli XCX herself, The Moment offers a comedic, behind-the-scenes look at the phenomenon that was “Brat Summer.” The film resonated strongly with fans, boasting over 60 sell-out screenings across all four initial locations. Charli XCX not only stars in the mockumentary but also serves as a producer, following its successful premiere at Sundance.
A Star-Studded Cast and Rapid Expansion
The ensemble cast includes notable names such as Alexander Skarsgård, Kylie Jenner, Rosanna Arquette, Kate Berlant, Jamie Demetriou, and Rachel Sennott. The film experienced the fastest presales of any A24 limited release, with numerous shows selling out quickly. Next weekend will see a limited nationwide expansion, bringing The Moment to a wider audience.
