Stay Ahead of Your Finances: June 2026 Benefit Payment Schedule
For many Canadians, staying on top of federal benefit schedules is essential for effective budgeting. As we approach the middle of the year, many are searching for the June 2026 CPP payment date and other critical financial supports. Whether you are a senior relying on pension payments or a low-income household awaiting grocery rebates, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has several key dates you need to mark on your calendar.
Old Age Security (OAS) Payment: June 26, 2026
One of the most anticipated dates for seniors is June 26, 2026, the scheduled date for the next Old Age Security (OAS) payment. Unlike the Canada Pension Plan (CPP), which is based on your employment contributions, OAS is a monthly payment available to seniors based on their age and how long they have lived in Canada.
Who is eligible for OAS?
To qualify, you must be a Canadian citizen or a legal resident and have lived in Canada for at least 10 years since turning 18. While employment doesn’t affect eligibility, your income does:
- n
- Ages 65 to 74: Qualify if annual income is below $148,451 (max payment: $743.05/month).
- Ages 75+: Qualify if annual income is below $154,196 (max payment: $817.36/month).
Note: Be aware of “OAS clawbacks,” where payments are gradually reduced if your income exceeds these thresholds.
Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB): Starting July 3
In a move to combat the rising cost of living, the federal government has introduced the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB). This new program replaces the previous HST/GST credit and offers a significant boost—payments will be 25% higher than the old credit from July 3, 2026, through 2031.
The first CGEB payment is scheduled for July 3, 2026, with the second quarterly payment following on October 5, 2026.
CGEB Eligibility and Income Thresholds
To receive the CGEB, you must be at least 19 years old and a resident of Canada for tax purposes. The maximum income threshold for the 2025 tax year depends on your family size:
| Family Status | Income Threshold |
|---|---|
| Single (No Children) | $60,012 |
| One Child | $68,912 |
| Two Children | $73,592 |
| Three Children | $78,272 |
| Four Children | $82,952 |
How Much Will You Receive?
The payment amount varies based on your specific financial situation:
- Single Individuals: Up to $679 (split into four quarterly payments).
- Married/Common-law Partners: Up to $890.
- Parents: An additional $234 for each eligible child under 19.
How to Receive Your Payments
The CRA prioritizes direct deposit for speed and security. If you have registered for direct deposit, funds will appear in your bank account on the scheduled dates. If not, payments will be sent via mail, though these typically take longer to arrive.
