Shannon Bream: Finding Strength in Biblical Heroes

Shannon Bream’s New Book Explores Faith and Resilience Through Biblical Heroes

When Fox News ventured into publishing in 2020, focusing on faith, family, and patriotism, Shannon Bream, anchor of Fox News Sunday and a devout Christian, was a natural choice as an author. Since then, Fox News Books has published 17 titles, achieving over 3.5 million in sales – with nearly half (almost 1.5 million) attributed to Bream’s trilogy highlighting the stories of women in the Bible. Now, the publisher is proud to announce her fourth book, Nothing is Impossible with God: Eleven Heroes. One God. Endless Lessons in Overcoming, set to release on March 10th.

In this new work, Shannon Bream shifts her focus to the often-complex narratives of men in the Bible – from Noah’s struggles to Peter’s doubts and even Jesus’ trials. She examines how these figures, despite their flaws and fears, ultimately “partnered with Him to accomplish the (humanly) impossible,” as she writes. Publishers Weekly recently spoke with Bream about her latest book and the powerful lessons it offers.

Why Now? Addressing Challenges with Timeless Wisdom

“It absolutely is [a response to the current climate],” Bream explained. “I know that everybody, on some level, has something they have to overcome. Whether it’s feeling divided by current events, facing personal hardships like health issues or job loss, there’s rarely a time of complete peace. It’s always a good time to discuss how we re-center ourselves, find peace, and seek comfort in a world that often feels unsettling.”

A Personal Connection: Finding Strength in God’s Promise

Bream begins the book by sharing her own deeply personal story – her battle with a chronic eye condition and her reliance on God’s promise found in Judges 6:16: “I will be with you.” She emphasizes the profound significance of this promise.

“God repeatedly tells those in difficult situations, ‘I’ll be with you,’” Bream shared. “He doesn’t promise an easy life, free from pain. But He does promise His presence – in both good times and bad – and that presence is what truly sustains us.”

Exploring the Imperfect Heroes of the Bible

Bream’s “heroes” are grouped thematically, revealing common struggles and triumphs. Like Jonah, they initially resist God’s plan. Like Joseph, they experience betrayal. Like Elijah, they feel abandoned.

“What I love about these stories is that these men weren’t always immediately obedient or faithful,” Bream noted. “Many wrestled with God’s will, questioning and struggling along the way. I think many of us can relate to that.”

The Hardest Question: Why Does Suffering Exist?

Each chapter concludes with thought-provoking questions designed to encourage reflection and discussion. Bream identified the most challenging question raised by these stories: “Why does God allow suffering?”

“Our human minds struggle with that concept,” she admitted. “No one wants to suffer, and we yearn to understand why a loving God would permit it. While a perfect understanding may elude us, my Christian perspective is that this world is not the paradise God originally intended. It’s been marred by sin and human failings. However, God has given us free will, and we have the choice to accept the salvation offered through His Son.”

A Message of Hope and Invitation

The book ultimately offers a message of hope, encouraging readers to find strength in their faith. Bream concludes by inviting readers to accept Jesus Christ. When asked why she chose a career in broadcasting rather than evangelism, she responded, “I like to think I’m a little bit of both. There’s a place for faith woven through everything I do.”
