Finn Wolfhard: A Multi-Talented Force Taking Over Hollywood

At just 23 years old, Finn Wolfhard has already established himself as a remarkable multi-hyphenate talent. Best known for his breakout role in the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, the Canadian actor’s career has blossomed in a multitude of directions over the past decade. He’s not just an actor; he’s a musician, voice actor, director, and now, the first host from the Stranger Things cast to take the stage at Saturday Night Live on January 17th!

From Hawkins to Studio 8H: A Natural Progression

Wolfhard’s connection to SNL runs deeper than just landing the hosting gig. He shares a friendship with former cast member Fred Armisen, and notably, he and Bill Hader portrayed different ages of the same character in the 2019 film It Chapter Two. A fun fact? He even made a cameo as an NBC page in the 2024 SNL-inspired movie, Saturday Night, and received a shout-out in Jane Wickline’s “Weekend Update” song on December 13th. Catch new episodes of Saturday Night Live Saturdays at 11:30/10:30c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

A Career Built on Versatility

Wolfhard’s journey began with early roles in 2014’s The 100 and a 2015 episode of Supernatural. However, it was his portrayal of Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things (debuting in 2016) that catapulted him to international recognition. The show concluded on December 31, 2025, leaving Wolfhard free to explore even more creative avenues.

His voice acting credits include roles in popular animated series like Smiling Friends, Duncanville, and King of the Hill, as well as alongside Gina Rodriguez in Carmen Sandiego. He also showcased his acting range in films like It (2017) and It Chapter Two (2019), The Goldfinch (2019), Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021), and When You Finish Saving the World (2022).

Beyond Acting: Directing and Music

Wolfhard isn’t limited to performing. He co-wrote and co-directed the horror movie Hell of a Summer with Billy Bryk in 2023, demonstrating his burgeoning talent behind the camera. And his passion for music is equally impressive.

A lifelong music enthusiast – his mother gifted him a guitar at age four – Wolfhard has fronted bands like Calpurnia and The Aubreys. Calpurnia even appeared in Weezer’s music video for their cover of A-ha’s “Take On Me” in 2019. With The Aubreys, he produced a music video for the 2020 horror film The Turning, in which he also starred. He released his debut solo album in June 2025 and recently directed a stop-motion music video for the 50th anniversary of George Harrison’s “Give Me Love.”
