Royals vs Tigers: Rain Delay & Upcoming Schedule – A Comprehensive Update

Royals vs Tigers Game Delayed Due to Inclement Weather

Detroit Tigers fans were anticipating a thrilling three-game series finale against the Kansas City Royals at Comerica Park on Thursday, April 16th. However, Mother Nature had other plans. Inclement weather forced a rain delay, pushing the first pitch back to 2:15 p.m. between these American League Central rivals.

Originally scheduled for 1:10 p.m., the delay has added an element of uncertainty to the day. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch acknowledged the situation, stating, “I don’t know what happens today. We’ll meet as it gets closer to game time, but it’s obviously a mess out there.”

Pitching Matchup: Montero vs. Bubic

When play resumes, right-hander Keider Montero will take the mound for the Detroit Tigers, facing off against left-hander Kris Bubic of the Kansas City Royals. This pitching duel promises to be an interesting contest, weather permitting.

Tigers’ Hot Streak & Upcoming Series Against the Red Sox

The Tigers (9-9) are currently riding a five-game winning streak and are looking to continue their momentum. Following the Royals game, they’ll head to Fenway Park to face the Boston Red Sox in a four-game series, starting Friday at 7:15 p.m. (available on Apple TV).

Red Sox Series Starters:

  • Friday: Casey Mize (DET) vs. Ranger Suárez (BOS)
  • Saturday: Tarik Skubal (DET) vs. Brayan Bello (BOS)
  • Sunday: Framber Valdez (DET) vs. Garrett Crochet (BOS)
  • Monday: Jack Flaherty (DET) vs. Sonny Gray (BOS)

Manager Hinch highlighted the importance of safety, stating, “I was talking to Q [Royals manager Matt Quatraro] across the way. Obviously, we all want safety and a window, as they say, but there’s a lot of unknown going into the day.”
