Vandenberg Launch Schedule: SpaceX Starlink Mission Details

SpaceX Gears Up for Another Starlink Launch from Vandenberg
SpaceX is preparing for the launch of a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, bolstering its Starlink internet constellation. This mission, designated Starlink 17-27, will deliver another 25 Starlink satellites to low Earth orbit, expanding global internet access.
Launch Details & Schedule
Liftoff from Space Launch Complex 4 East is currently scheduled for 9:29:49 p.m. PDT (12:29:49 a.m. EDT / 04:29:49 UTC). The Falcon 9 will follow a southerly trajectory from the central California coast, aiming for an orbit of 258 x 246 km with a 97-degree inclination. For those eager to witness the event, Spaceflight Now will provide live coverage approximately 30 minutes before liftoff.
Falcon 9 Booster B1082: A Veteran Performer
This marks the 46th Falcon 9 launch of the year for SpaceX, and a significant milestone for booster B1082. This first-stage booster is embarking on its 21st flight, demonstrating SpaceX’s commitment to reusability and cost-effectiveness. Since joining the SpaceX fleet in January 2024, B1082 has already successfully deployed 17 previous Starlink missions, alongside the USSF-62, OneWeb Launch 20, and NROL-145 missions. This proven track record highlights the reliability of SpaceX’s Falcon 9 technology.
Landing and Satellite Deployment
Approximately eight minutes after launch, the first stage booster will target a precision landing on the drone ship, ‘Of Course I Still Love You,’ stationed in the Pacific Ocean. This successful recovery is crucial for SpaceX’s rapid reusability program. Following stage separation, the 25 Starlink V2 Mini satellites will begin deployment roughly an hour into the flight, initiating their journey to provide high-speed, low-latency internet connectivity.
The Importance of Starlink
The Starlink network continues to expand, offering internet access to underserved communities and remote locations around the globe. Starlink aims to bridge the digital divide and provide reliable connectivity for a growing number of users. This launch from Vandenberg is a key step in achieving that goal.
