Elle Fanning is generating significant buzz for her portrayal of a young Effie Trinket in the highly anticipated “Hunger Games” prequel, “Sunrise on the Reaping.” And she has the full support of the original Effie, Elizabeth Banks!
Banks expressed her excitement Monday night at the premiere of her new Peacock series, “The Miniature Wife,” stating, “I am so excited! I think she’s perfect casting. I’ve always said it. The fans loved it and wanted it, so I was really happy about it.” This endorsement speaks volumes about Fanning’s ability to capture the essence of the iconic character.
Previously, Fanning shared with The Hollywood Reporter that Banks welcomed her to the role with a thoughtful gesture – a bouquet of flowers accompanied by a message echoing the franchise’s famous phrase, “May the odds be in your favor,” signed with a warm “All love, Elizabeth Banks.”

Elizabeth Banks on “The Miniature Wife” and the Challenges of Shrinking On-Screen
Banks also discussed her latest project, “The Miniature Wife,” a Peacock series where she plays a woman accidentally shrunk to six inches tall. She described the pitch as “’War of the Roses,’ but she’s six inches tall,” highlighting the show’s exploration of power dynamics in relationships.
The actress admitted to initial anxieties about the realism of the CGI, expressing relief that the final result was convincing. A six-inch doll, 3D-printed in her likeness, served as a stand-in during filming, adding to the unique challenges of the role. Banks described the experience as surprisingly isolating and emotionally vulnerable.
All 10 episodes of “The Miniature Wife” will premiere on Peacock on April 9.
