Jaylen Brown Fuels Jordan Walsh’s Playoff Excitement: Celtics’ Rising Star Ready for the Challenge
BOSTON – While the Boston Celtics have already secured a championship for rookie Jordan Walsh, the young player is eager to prove himself in the postseason. Having seen limited action in his first two seasons – appearing in just 8 playoff games with an average of slightly over 3 minutes per game – Walsh is poised for a more substantial role in the 2026 NBA Playoffs.
Walsh is currently achieving career-best statistics across the board, and despite the return of Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum, he’s consistently earning increased playing time. This suggests a potential expansion of his responsibilities during the upcoming playoffs, a prospect that has Celtics veteran Jaylen Brown incredibly excited.
“Playoffs, Best Time of the Year”
“Jordan has had a great year,” Brown shared during a recent Twitch stream. “Now it’s like Christmas time. Playoffs, best time of the year. Celtics legends are born during the playoffs.” Brown wasn’t just addressing his online audience; he was speaking directly to Walsh, who was also participating in the stream.
Brown then posed a direct question to the 22-year-old: “Are you ready for the smoke, my boy?”
Walsh’s response was immediate and enthusiastic. “For sure,” he replied. “I’ve been waiting for this one. Year 3 – I’ve been waiting for this one.”
A Chance to Shine
With only four regular season games remaining, the Celtics currently hold the second seed in the Eastern Conference, and are guaranteed at least the third seed. Expectations are high for Boston, and Walsh is visibly thrilled at the opportunity to contribute on the biggest stage.
“After we won the first year I’ve been so excited to go back,” Walsh admitted. “This time I get a chance to impact the game, oh yeah…It’s the moment I’ve been waiting on.”
While the extent of Walsh’s playing time in the playoffs remains to be seen, he has demonstrated his value as a tenacious defensive specialist capable of disrupting opposing star players. His growth this season has been undeniable.
Brown Praises Walsh’s Development
“I’m starting to see Jordan play like a grown man,” Brown remarked during a postgame press conference in December. “It’s amazing to see just from him coming out of his shell, being aggressive.”
Before the postseason begins, Walsh will have the opportunity to further prepare as the Celtics conclude their regular season. Their next game is Tuesday night against the Charlotte Hornets, a team fighting to avoid the Play-In Tournament and potentially a first-round matchup against the Celtics.
