TWICE: A K-Pop Revolution Continues
In 2022, TWICE etched their name in K-Pop history as the first girl group to headline a stadium show in the United States during their “III” tour. Supporting their 2021 album, “Formula of Love: O+T=<3,” the tour brought Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu to iconic venues like Los Angeles’ BMO Stadium and New York’s UBS Arena. This momentum continued in 2025, marking their 10th anniversary with another groundbreaking achievement: becoming the first K-pop girl group to headline Lollapalooza in Chicago.
The ‘This Is For’ Tour: A 360° Experience
Now, with their ambitious 78-date “This Is For” tour, TWICE is once again pushing boundaries, introducing a revolutionary 360-degree stage – a first for any K-pop girl group. The tour includes a highly anticipated debut in Boston with two shows at TD Garden on April 3rd and 4th. (Unfortunately, Dahyun will be unable to perform in Boston due to an ankle fracture sustained during a Seattle show.)
“The 360-degree stage definitely felt like a big challenge and even a bit of a risk,” shared Tzuyu. “Preparing for it made us rethink many parts of the performance, especially the choreography, because we wanted fans from every direction to feel included. It pushed us to be more creative and aware of the entire space, but at the same time, it made the performance feel more immersive and exciting.”
Sana emphasized the intentionality behind every detail, aiming for a performance that felt “more open and personal – not just visually dynamic, but emotionally close.” Fans attending the Boston shows can anticipate electrifying performances of hits like “Strategy” and “What Is Love?,” alongside tracks from their 2025 album, “This Is For,” including “OPTIONS” and “RIGHT HAND GIRL.”
Beyond the Stage: Collaborations and Expanding Horizons
TWICE’s soaring popularity underscores the growing global influence of K-pop. Their impact was further highlighted when Coldplay invited them to open six sold-out shows at Goyang Stadium in Seoul in April 2025. This collaboration led to a unique “TWICE version” of Coldplay’s hit “WE PRAY,” featuring TWICE alongside Burna Boy, Little Simz, TINI, and Elyanna – a testament to their expanding reach.
“What impressed us the most was how Coldplay has continued to meet and connect with fans all around the world for so many years,” said Jihyo. “Seeing that kind of global relationship with fans made us think a lot about the kind of artists we want to become.”
Subunits and Solo Ventures: A Creative Explosion
Beyond their success as a group, TWICE members are exploring individual and subunit projects. Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung contributed to the soundtrack of the animated Netflix movie “KPop Demon Hunters” with the song “TAKEDOWN,” which has amassed over 300 million streams on Spotify.
“Projects like this can introduce K-pop to people who might not usually listen to the genre, so it feels meaningful to contribute to something that helps share K-pop with a wider audience,” reflected Chaeyoung.
The Japanese members – Mina, Sana, and Momo – formed the subunit MISAMO, releasing their first Japanese full album, “PLAY,” earlier this year. Momo explained, “With ‘PLAY,’ we wanted to show a different side of MISAMO. Up until now, we’ve released a lot of refined and mature songs, but this time we wanted something brighter and more playful.”
Nayeon believes that embracing new configurations and styles is crucial for TWICE’s continued evolution. “Whether it’s through different musical styles, performances, or creative projects, we want to continue evolving while still keeping the essence of what makes TWICE special,” she noted.
