Jocelyn Peterman Joins Team Einarson: A Curling Power Move
GIMLI, Man. – March 30, 2026 – In a significant shakeup for Canadian curling, Team Einarson has announced the addition of two-time Olympian Jocelyn Peterman as their new lead. This move comes just days after the team underwent a major lineup overhaul following a hard-fought silver medal finish at the World Women’s Curling Championship in Calgary.
Peterman transitions from Kaitlyn Lawes’s Winnipeg-based rink, where she excelled as second since 2022. The decision follows Team Einarson’s parting ways with longtime third Val Sweeting, coach Reid Carruthers, and alternate Krysten Karwacki after their narrow defeat to Switzerland. Kerri Einarson will remain as skip, with Shannon Birchard stepping into the third position and Karlee Burgess taking on the role of second. Birchard and Burgess will continue to form the team’s dynamic sweeping duo.
A Statement from Jocelyn Peterman
“I’m really excited to team up with such a hardworking, talented group of women,” Peterman stated. “I can’t wait to get on the ice, learn from each other, and see what we can build together.”
Peterman’s Impressive Curling Resume
Jocelyn Peterman is a seasoned veteran in the world of curling. Alongside her husband, Brett Gallant, she achieved a 3-0 start in mixed doubles at the recent Milan Cortina Games, ultimately finishing with a 4-5 record. The pair has consistently ranked among Canada’s top mixed doubles teams, claiming the 2019 Canadian Mixed Doubles Championship and securing a silver medal at the World Mixed Doubles Championship that same year.
Peterman’s Olympic experience includes representing Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, playing second on Jennifer Jones’s team alongside Lawes at third. Prior to that, she spent four successful seasons with Jones from 2018 to 2022 before joining forces with Lawes to form a new competitive team in 2022. She also secured a Scotties Tournament of Hearts title in 2016 as second on Chelsea Carey’s team, solidifying her position as a consistent presence at the national championship.
Einarson’s Vision for the Future
“We’re thrilled to welcome Jocelyn to the team. She’s an incredible player with a ton of experience,” said Einarson. “Her skill and dedication will be invaluable as we strive for continued success.”
Team Einarson has established itself as a dominant force in Canadian curling, boasting five Scotties Tournament of Hearts titles since 2020, including the 2024 event in Mississauga. They’ve also consistently performed on the world stage, earning three World Championship medals since 2022 – bronze in 2022 and 2023, and silver this year in Calgary. This latest addition signals their intent to remain at the pinnacle of the sport.
