Jays Home Opener: A New Era Begins at Rogers Centre

The anticipation is building as the Toronto Blue Jays prepare for their highly anticipated home opener against the Athletics this Friday! This season isn’t just about baseball; it’s a milestone celebration of the team’s 50th anniversary, and Rogers Centre has undergone exciting transformations to mark the occasion. From nostalgic displays to gourmet food options, fans are in for a treat.

A Walk Through Blue Jays History

As you enter Rogers Centre, take a journey through the team’s rich history. The Level 100 concourse now features stunning display cases showcasing iconic Blue Jays memorabilia. These exhibits offer a captivating look back at memorable moments and legendary players, reminding fans of the team’s incredible journey. You’ll find yourself immersed in the legacy of Canada’s baseball team.

New Culinary Delights

No ballpark experience is complete without delicious food! Executive Chef Matthew Munro promises a revamped menu with fan-favourite options. Get ready to savour new delights like Cubano sliders, garlic knots, chicken and beef shawarma, meatball paninis, and even uncrustable french toast. There’s something to satisfy every craving.

Rogers Centre Unveils Major Upgrades

The renovations extend far beyond the concourse. Here’s a rundown of what’s new at Rogers Centre this season:

  • Hall of Excellence: A dedicated space on the right-field concourse will honour Blue Jays legends, with retired broadcaster Buck Martinez as the inaugural inductee on August 29th.
  • Digital Displays: Eight new pillars featuring digital displays will showcase historic Jays moments, bringing the team’s past to life.
  • Rogers Terrace: A new premium club on the 200 level offers luxurious seating for 1,050 guests (currently sold out with a waitlist), a patio overlooking the city, and comfortable couches. Members enjoy access to a VIP bar, sushi bar, and restaurant-style dining.
  • Exclusive Clubs: Rogers Centre continues to offer high-end experiences with the Banner Club, TD Lounge, and KPMG Blueprint Club, all located on the 100-level with private entrances.
  • Expanded Boutique Store: The Blue Jays store on the south side of the 100 level has been expanded, offering a wider selection of merchandise and convenient access both during and outside of game days.

Celebrating 50 Seasons

This year marks a significant milestone for the Blue Jays. Banners outside the stadium and digital displays inside will serve as constant reminders of the team’s 50 seasons of baseball. Jeff Holloway, the team’s director of youth baseball and special projects, emphasized the importance of this anniversary: “In 100 years we will all be gone, but 50 is the biggest anniversary certainly for most of our staff and our organization.”

A Statue to Remember

On July 18th, the team will unveil an outdoor statue commemorating the 1992 and 1993 World Series champions, forever immortalizing Joe Carter’s historic walk-off home run.

The Jays home opener promises to be a memorable event, kicking off a season filled with excitement, celebration, and unforgettable baseball moments. Don’t miss out on the action!
