Diver Matt Vermette, a self-proclaimed ‘ship junkie,’ was among the first to witness this rare spectacle. “Not an active ship, but this lady showed up a couple hundred yards from shore in Kingsville, ON. Thanks to the wind, I got to see a shipwreck without my drysuit today,” Vermette shared, capturing compelling video and photos of the discovery.
Historians, based on initial findings and archival research, believe the discovered vessel may be the Demming. Newspaper archives dating back before the 1900s document its unfortunate fate, adding a layer of historical intrigue to this modern rediscovery.
