The incident, which occurred around 11:15 a.m., involved a man reportedly armed with a knife, causing disruption to the morning commute.

According to Transit Police Chief Richard Sullivan, officers responded to reports of a man threatening individuals and attempting to slash tires on a bus at the Forest Hills bus station. Upon arrival, a struggle ensued between the suspect and responding officers. During the altercation, a police weapon discharged, though thankfully, no one was struck by the gunfire.

The initial officer involved sustained a knee injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. A second officer was also taken to a hospital for evaluation. The circumstances surrounding the weapon’s discharge are currently under investigation.

The MBTA announced temporary closures of the Forest Hills Upper Busway due to police activity. Riders were advised to board all buses in the lower busway.
