Good news for fans of the chilling saga! Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) isn’t going anywhere. Paramount+ has officially renewed Dexter: Resurrection for a second season, and details are beginning to surface about what lies ahead. Notably, Hall has confirmed he’s working on bringing back the iconic intro sequence from the original series for Season 2 – a tradition embraced by Dexter: New Blood and Dexter: Original Sin, which Resurrection initially skipped.

Renewal Confirmed & Viewership Numbers

The renewal was officially announced in October, following reports in August that a writers’ room was already being assembled. The premiere episode, which debuted on July 11, 2025, garnered an impressive 4.4 million viewers within its first seven days on the platform. This success played a key role in Paramount+’s decision to prioritize this continuation of the Dexter story, especially after shelving the prequel series, Original Sin.

What to Expect in Season 2

While specific plot details remain under wraps, fans can anticipate Dexter continuing his complex journey of hunting serial killers. Season 1 saw Dexter surviving the severe injuries from the end of New Blood and relocating to New York City to reconnect with his son, Harrison (Jack Alcott), while simultaneously evading investigators. The season featured the return of beloved characters like Angel Batista (David Zayas), though with tragic consequences.

Season 1 also introduced compelling new antagonists, including Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater, a billionaire with a disturbing obsession with serial killers. The fates of Uma Thurman’s Charley and Eric Stonestreet’s Al (Rapunzel) remain uncertain, adding to the suspense. We also saw brief but impactful appearances from Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter, and David Dastmalchian as other potential ‘Dark Passengers’.

Returning Cast & Potential Cameos

Michael C. Hall is, of course, set to return as Dexter, and Jack Alcott is expected to reprise his role as Harrison. James Remar will likely voice Harry Morgan, Dexter’s internal moral compass. The possibility of Thurman and Stonestreet returning is still up in the air.

Other actors who could reappear include Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Emilia Suárez, JillMarie Lawrence, Reese Antoinette, and Emily Kimball. Cameos from Dexter originals like C.S. Lee (Vince Masuka) and Desmond Harrington (Joey Quinn) are also a possibility. The first season even brought back iconic figures from Dexter’s past, such as John Lithgow (Arthur Mitchell), Erik King (James Doakes), Jimmy Smits (Miguel Prado), and Christian Camargo (Brian Moser), proving that anything is possible!

Dexter: Resurrection streams Fridays on Paramount+.
