Sinner Overpowers Tien in Straight Sets
Sinner convincingly defeated Tien (ATP No. 27) with a score of 6-1, 6-2. This victory marks Sinner’s 14th semifinal appearance in a Masters 1000 tournament, and his third at Indian Wells, following appearances in 2023 and 2024. He now boasts 98 wins in Masters 1000 events, making him the Italian player with the most victories at this level.
Looking Ahead: Sinner to Face Zverev
In the semifinals, Sinner will face a formidable opponent in Alexander Zverev, the No. 4 ranked player in the ATP rankings. Zverev previously defeated Arthur Fils 6-2, 6-3 to advance. Sinner acknowledges the challenge ahead, stating, “The next match will be very difficult. Playing against Sasha on this court will be tough.”
Sinner on His Performance and Preparation
Following his quarterfinal win, Sinner commented on Tien’s talent, saying, “Tien is a very talented player who will be here many times. He was very aggressive at the beginning, and I’m happy with how I reacted. It was an important match for me.” He also discussed the team’s preparation for the tournament, emphasizing the importance of acclimatizing to the Californian heat.
“We arrived very early, and it was very hot before the tournament began. We had long training sessions to get the body used to it, and we’re trying to work on that aspect, given the problems I had in Australia. I’m satisfied with how I prepared for the matches,” Sinner explained.

The BNP Paribas Open, the first Masters 1000 event of the season, is being held on the hard courts of the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, with a total prize pool of $9,415,725.
