Tesla is currently facing a lawsuit in Texas following a Cybertruck crash that allegedly occurred while the vehicle’s Full Self-Driving (Supervised) system was engaged. This incident highlights ongoing concerns surrounding the safety and reliability of Tesla’s advanced driver-assistance technology, despite its widespread adoption across the United States.

The Incident: A Cybertruck’s Near Miss

The lawsuit, filed in Harris County Court in Houston, Texas, details an event from August of last year. Justine Saint Amour, the Cybertruck owner, was reportedly utilizing Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (Supervised) system while traveling on the 69 Eastex Freeway. As the electric pickup truck approached a Y-shaped junction near the Houston Metro 256 Eastex Park & Ride, the vehicle’s navigation system failed to correctly follow the freeway’s curve.

Instead of navigating the turn, the lawsuit alleges the Tesla attempted to continue straight, directly towards a concrete barrier. While the driver reportedly regained control just before impact, a collision was unavoidable. The Cybertruck struck the barrier head-on.

Injuries and Allegations

The impact resulted in significant injuries for Saint Amour, including two herniated discs in her lower back, a herniated disc in her neck, sprained wrist tendons, and neuropathy. This company wants drivers to believe and trust their life on a lie: that the vehicle can self-drive and that it can do so safely. It can’t, and it doesn’t.”
