Eastman, GA: Double Fatality in Shooting Investigation
EASTMAN, Ga. – A tragic incident unfolded in Eastman, Georgia, on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of two men. According to a report released by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), a 60-year-old man took his own life after fatally shooting another man.
Details of the Incident
Authorities responded to a call at a residence located on the 3400 block of Eastman Dublin Highway on Tuesday. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of Jonathan Groves, 48, of Eastman, inside the home. A subsequent search led investigators to Rex Giddens, 60, found deceased in the nearby woods.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Giddens shot and killed Groves before fleeing into the woods, where he ultimately died by suicide. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies have been transported to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
