Prince George Cougars Throwback Jerseys: A WHL Nostalgia Trip

The Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League (WHL) are taking fans on a trip down memory lane! As they prepare to conclude their 2025-26 regular season, the team is honouring its history with spectacular throwback jerseys. These aren’t just jerseys; they’re a vibrant reminder of the Cougars’ roots in Prince George.

A Blast from the Past: 1994-95 & 1995-96 Seasons

The Cougars will sport these retro designs during their final home weekend of the season, hosting the Wenatchee Wild on March 13th and 14th at the CN Centre. The jerseys pay homage to the 1994-95 and 1995-96 seasons – pivotal years marking the team’s inaugural campaigns in Prince George after relocating from Victoria. This is a fantastic way to connect with long-time fans and introduce a new generation to the Cougars’ legacy.

Design Details: A Royal Blue Revival

The jerseys feature a striking royal blue base, immediately evoking a sense of nostalgia. A roaring cougar is prominently displayed within a circular emblem on the front, positioned above bold red “PG” lettering. A sophisticated gold outline elegantly frames the entire crest. The shoulders are a vibrant red, also accented with gold outlining, while the collar boasts a gold hue with a central red stripe.

Further enhancing the classic aesthetic, gold stripes encircle the waist and wrist cuffs, punctuated by red and blue stripes in between. A notable addition to the front of the jersey is the logo of the British Columbia RCMP’s Indigenous Policing Services unit, recognizing their valuable outreach activities at Cougars games throughout the season. The names and numbers on the sleeves and back are rendered in red with a gold outline, completing the look.

Playoff Bound & Looking Sharp

The Cougars aren’t just looking good; they’re playing well! They’ve already secured a spot in the WHL playoffs, currently holding fourth place in the Western Conference with 78 points. Fans can look forward to seeing these throwback jerseys as the team battles for playoff glory. You can find more information about the WHL and its teams on the official WHL website.
